Walls Are Not Floors
Marble walls age differently than the floors below them. They do not wear through traffic; they collect scuffs from carts and furniture, staining and streaking from decades of cleaning chemistry, and an unevenness of sheen that makes a formal space read tired. Restoring them is vertical work, done in place: correcting damage panel by panel without over-cutting flat faces, then bringing an entire field of stone to one consistent, intended finish. On large panel runs, uniformity is the whole craft. A wall that is ninety percent right looks wrong.
The Work
Rose crews restored the marble wall surfaces under the prime contract with Tatitlek Technologies: cleaning decades of buildup from the stone, correcting scarring and staining, and refinishing the panels to a uniform sheen appropriate to the building’s formality, all coordinated within the access and security requirements of one of the most protected federal facilities in Washington.
