The seam in this Alexandria kitchen’s granite had been there since the house was built, about 25 years earlier, and it was becoming more noticeable. The homeowner was not sure it could be fixed at all. We removed the failed seam material and replaced it with a color-matched epoxy resin. Summer 2026.

Why seams get worse with age
Large countertops are made from more than one slab, and the joint between them is filled. Over the years that filler can shrink, discolor or loosen, which makes the seam look wider and darker than the day it was installed. The fix is in the joint, not the stone: take the old filler out and put new, color-matched filler in.

What to expect
A seam can be made much less noticeable, but it will still be a seam. We blend the color as closely as the stone allows, and you will still be able to find the joint if you look for it.
