Two warranties, two different things
A Marble Armor installation by Rose Restoration involves two separate written warranties. They cover different things for different lengths of time.

What is covered and what is not
Marble Armor is a protective film applied to stone surfaces to protect the stone from etching and staining. The 10-year warranty covers that protection and the condition of the film itself.
Covered Protection and film
- Etching of the protected stone
- Staining of the protected stone
- Yellowing
- Blistering
- Bubbling
- Delamination (the film lifting away from the stone)
For up to 10 years from the date of installation.
Not covered Wear and damage
- Scratches and cuts in the film
- Peeling caused by picking at or repeatedly rubbing the edges
- Film peeled away from the stone, which the card treats as intentional damage
Limits that apply to every claim. Liability for loss or damage due to Marble Armor products is limited to the cost of the product sold. For jobs outside the Rose Restoration service area, the customer may be responsible for travel and lodging expenses.
A 10-year warranty is not a 10-year appearance promise
Scratches build up in the film with normal use. At some point most owners decide to replace the film for how it looks. How soon depends on how hard the surface works. Typical replacement times:
| Setting | Typical replacement |
|---|---|
| Residential | Every 6 to 9 years |
| Hotels and commercial | Every 5 to 8 years |
| Restaurants and bars | Every 3 to 5 years |
| Exterior, direct sun | Every 2 years |
| Exterior, partial shade | Every 3 years |
According to the card, the film’s protection does not wear out in that time: it remains acid, alkaline, water and oil proof until it is removed. Replacing it is a decision about appearance. The film is made to be replaced, and a scratched section can be removed and replaced. The card notes that when the film scratches, the marble itself is not scratched.
Care and maintenance
Proper cleaning and care extend the life of the film. Scratches, cuts and edge peeling are not covered by the warranty, so these habits matter.
Do
- Clean with a neutral cleaner and a microfiber towel. Dawn dish soap with warm water is recommended.
- Remove stubborn material with rubbing alcohol or acetone on a microfiber rag.
- Use a cutting board every time.
- Put a trivet under hot items.
- Keep use light for the first 2 hours after installation. Full bond takes about 72 hours.
Do not
- Use abrasive sponges, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners such as Comet or Softscrub. They scratch the film.
- Cut, chop or slice directly on the counter.
- Pick at the edges or aim high-pressure water at them. This can lift the film.
- Try to peel the film off the stone.
Light scratches in the film can self-heal in 20 to 30 minutes at room temperature. In cold conditions, or to speed it up, pour warm water (about 120°F) over the area. Scratches are not covered by the warranty, whether or not they heal.

Questions
Does the warranty cover etching or stains on my marble?
Yes. The 10-year warranty covers etching and staining of the protected stone, as well as yellowing, blistering, bubbling and delamination of the film. If you see etching or staining on a protected surface, send us a claim.
Are scratches covered?
No. Scratches and cuts in the film are excluded. Light scratches can self-heal, and a damaged section can be removed and replaced. The warranty card says the stone underneath is not scratched when the film is.
Why would I replace the film before 10 years?
For appearance. Wear scratches build up with use, so most residential owners replace the film every 6 to 9 years. The 10-year warranty covers etching and staining protection and defects in the film, not everyday wear such as scratches.
What do I need to make a claim?
Your original paid invoice and photos of the problem, sent to us by email or phone. No registration is needed.
Who provides the warranty?
Rose Restoration. We installed the film, we provide the warranty, and we handle every claim.
What does Rose’s own warranty cover?
Rose’s 1-year written workmanship warranty covers our labor for one year from substantial completion of the work. It does not cover normal wear and tear or product abuse.
